Dundlod

Dundlod is a tiny principality (thikana) in the Shekhawati region that is famous for its frescoed mansions. Visit Dundlod for nostalgia, gracious hospitality and horse riding.

Dundlod is accessible from Delhi, Jaipur and Bikaner by air, rail and road. Founded in 1750, the Fort of Dundlod is a heritage attraction. The entire experience during your stay at the Dundlod Fort hotel is authentic Rajputana. The property is managed by the direct descendants of the original owner; the family is now into its fifth generation.

Suraj Pol or the Sun Gate is the gateway to the fort.

The ramparts of the fort are surrounded by a moat. In the village of Dundlod, the Diwan Khana is built in Mughal architectural style and is endowed with 'Louis The XIV furniture. Its library has a rich collection of rare books.

The famous Goenka Havelis of Shekhawati region (mansions made by prosperous merchants and decorated with frescoes) are located here in Dundlod. The charms of Dundlod include not just sand-dunes; there are also the town of Jhunjhunu and the Nawalgarh Fort in the vicinity.

Over and above all this, Dundlod is The Place to enjoy riding on Marwar horses and also to play a game of Polo. Horse safaris pass through terrain comprising of desert, hills, open fields, dunes, forests, interesting villages and hamlets. You can return in the evening to enjoy a drink under the stars and a wonderful meal and return to your comfortable room, or stay at old princely heritage forts and palaces or in royal tents. The Royal Equestrian And Polo Centre is the only horse safari Centre in India to be recognized and affiliated with the Equestrian Federation Of India. It has hosted National Endurance, Tent Pegging and Indigenous Horse Shows. International Horse Show in Tent Pegging and Invitational 100 kms Endurance have also been hosted at Dundlod.
