On the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, lies the beautiful 18th century garden that was made by Maharana Sangram Singh.
With its verdant green lawns, marble art and fountains, Saheliyon ki Bari (meaning the Garden of Maids) is a major tourist attraction. It is believed that the garden was designed by the king himself and presented to his beloved queen. The Queen was accompanied by 48 maids in her marriage. The garden was meant for them to enjoy a relaxed time away from the political intrigues of the court.
Four water pools, chiseled kiosks and marble elephants add to the beauty of the garden. A lotus pool and bird-fountains give it a truly romantic feel. A pavilion of rain fountains was added to this garden by Maharana Bhopal Singh. These fountains were procured from England. Presently, there is a museum in its grounds exhibiting the huge collection of royal households, ancient pictures and stuffed animals that were hunted by the royals.
