Navalgarh is an interesting Fort built by Thakur Nawal Singh in 1737. Its frescoes are some of the finest in the Shekhawati region. The sprawling bazaar and havelis with frescoes make Navalgarh an interesting destination.
Just after entering the south gate called Nansa Gate (now named Ramilas Poddar Gate), lies the Aath Haveli, a cluster of six havelis that are covered in paintings. The Hotel Raj Hans Restaurant has an impressive Sheeh Mahal (Mirror Hall), which among its ceiling paintings has a painting of maps of Nawalgarh and Jaipur.
The other havelis of note are Anandilal Poddar Haveli and Hodh Raj Patodia Haveli. The palace hotel Roop Niwas here is a beautiful heritage property. Furbished with modern facilities, it offers painted rooms, luxurious interiors, graceful hospitality and thematic evenings with sumptuous cuisine making for an enjoyable vacation.
