Nahargarh Fort was strategically important since it was made to strengthen the defense of Amer. Named after a Prince whose spirit supposedly haunted the place; Nahargarh is also called the Tiger Fort as the word Nahargarh means "abode of tigers".
The fort offered refuge to fleeing Europeans during the first war of Indian independence in 1857. The fort has nine apartments for nine queens and some beautiful frescoes. Nahargarh is popular for the captivating view of the city that it offers.
